Spacious white stone corner house within the walls of the bastide town of Montpezat de Quercy, 20 minutes south of the beautiful city of Cahors (last photo shown above).
The house is a blank canvas, structurally sound and very solid, with four bedrooms, and a floored attic (which could easily be converted to a huge lounge or another bedroom -or two!).
Montpezat de Quercy is an ancient town undergoing restoration and renovation with substantial investment in homes and local businesses. The local community is welcoming and friendly.
The town boasts an all-day supermarket, a modern grocer’s, fishmonger (offering fresh catches from the Atlantic ports and their own smoked salmon), butcher, plumber, electrician, baker’s (open every day), ironmonger, garage, petrol station, Tourist Office, bank, Post Office, bar/cafe, hairdresser, doctor, school, private language school (French, English). The 14th Century church is noted for its fine 16th Century tapestries.
There are 3 restaurants in the centre (the nearest is 10 metres from the house, recently restored and with an excellent chef) and one more 5 minutes’ drive away. There is also a small street market on Saturday mornings, and a much larger market in the town of Caussade (15 minutes’ drive) on Monday mornings. Montpezat public swimming pool opens in July and August.
The town of Montauban, half an hour to the south, is well served by commercial shopping centres and large chainstores, such as Auchan.
This area of France is very quiet, within reach of the Dordogne, but without the hordes of tourists! Parking space is never a problem.
The nearest airports are Toulouse and Rodez. The channel port of Ouistreham (Caen) is 702 km/ away.

Looking to swap for: Our main home is in the north of Italy and shares a similar climate.
We are looking to swap the mild climate of SW France for somewhere further south, preferably Sardinia, southern Italy or Greece.
Some land, not too far from a village/town - and a sea view would be ideal!
