My bungalow is situated in countryside just outside the small Spanish village of Los Montesinos in the southern Costa Blanca area on the Spanish East Mediterranean coast. The area enjoys an excellent climate, with sun on over 300 days in the year.
This house was built in 2005 (for approx. 170,000 euro plus 10,000 for the furnishings !) in the first phase of a small brand new development. Shops, small supermarkets, restaurants, cafes and bars are all in the village, which is about 10 minutes walk.
To the east of Los Montesinos are two large lagoons designated as natural reserves, well known for bird watching, bike and horse riding, and beyond those - about 15 minutes drive - is the Mediterranean. The nearest beach is Guadamar, about 10 km. long, uncommercial, with very fine clean sand and beautifully clean sea. At the northern end is a natural sand dune and palm area which is great for picnics, whilst the beach in Guadamar town itself has a small promenade area.
Inland of Los Montesinos are hilly areas with several national parks, and to the south La Manga and Cartegena, featuring a stretch of wild unspoilt coast with beaches accessible by car tracks. Five top tournament class golf courses are within 20 minutes of the house - I have all the details on these. For those who want a resort with an English feel then Torrevieja is only 15 minutes away, with its large retired ex-pat. population and holidaymakers, complete with many bars, restaurants, beaches in coves and a water park. A huge Carrefour hypermarket is about 15 minutes away in Torrevieja. The authentic spanish towns of Alicante, Murcia with its cathedral, Oriheula and Elche (Elx) are all within 40 minutes. Alicante is particularly nice, featuring an old town and castle, a port and marina, and a lovely promenade.
Residents have access to the pool, which is about 100 metres from the house. A nicely landscaped and very peaceful spot, next to olive groves on the perimeter of the development.
Murcia and Alicante airports are well served by low cost airlines from all over the UK, including Easyjet, Ryanair, Monarch, BMIBaby, FlyBE and Jet2.com.
Car hire at the airports is very reasonably priced.
The property gives a very flexible holiday - relaxation, or beach, golf, or a base to explore from.
The air conditioned house is offered furnished to a high modern standard, with cool marble floors. There is a fully equipped kitchen, dining area (though much of the time you would eat outdoors) and lounge area. The kitchen includes a touch control ceramic hob and fan oven, a very large fridge freezer and microwave. A washer-dryer is on the back porch. There is a twin and a double bedroom with fitted wardrobes, and 2 more people can be accomodated if the large sofa bed in the lounge is used. There are 2 bathrooms, both with showers and one with a bath. The house is approx. 80 square metres, and has a large solarium sunroof which covers almost its entire area.
